When I first started art, I thought art was just coloring in
books with black borders that prevented you from coloring OUTSIDE the borders.
But as I grew older, I saw art in different forms and realized that coloring within
borders did not allow me to utilize the creativity that I was given. I then
became interested in Fashion. I don’t see fashion in ways my friends do. I see
fashion as an art form but instead of replicating an artwork that someone has
already created, fashion is all about inventions, taking risks and expressing
yourself.

Volunteer work at Baan Nong Dang’s English Camp- 2013
In the summer of 2013, I volunteered at Baan Nong Dang School in Ubon Ratchathani province, which is located in the north-eastern part of Thailand. This community school has a limited number of teachers and it lacks the learning materials such as textbooks and stationaries. Therefore, effective learning is quite challenging for the students there. To help, I worked closely with the children on their rudimentary communication skills, everyday vocabulary, and simple grammatical structures. Within only a few days, I was surprised by how much they could learn, though pronunciation could be challenging for them at times.

Interacting with these students through games and songs, I
could also touch upon their optimistic and jovial nature that each of them had
contributed to create a community filled with such compassion and happiness.
Their open-mindedness was the glue that held the community together as a whole.
I felt connected to them and to the greater community, and leaving became
difficult.

Fashion, art, and theater are synonymous. When
I look at each character and actors/actresses in theater productions and their
costumes, I see theatricality. When assigned with a role, an actor has to
express the personality of that specific character including his garment that
he will wear during the production. The same can be applied in the world of
fashion when models are put into each outfit and portray a designer when
walking down the runway.
